Free Online Training: Teaming with an Interpreter and Teaming with a Translator
Highline Public Schools announces the availability of on-line, self-study training courses, Teaming with an Interpreter and Teaming with a Translator, at www.speakyourlanguages.com/training.There are also three short Essential Skills courses available for bilingual speakers who are providing interpreting or translating services in the community or workplace but have not had access to professional training.Interpreter Certification Pilot Examination
The Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) is accepting applications for CCHI’s pilot examination. Information about prerequisites and the application is available on CCHI’s website or by clicking here. Healthcare interpreters who pass CCHI’s pilot examination will be awarded CCHI Credentials – CCHI Spanish Certified Healthcare Interpreter or CCHI Associate Healthcare Interpreter.NOTIS MedSIG supports interpreter legislation and seeks a place at the table
Download a copy of the letter sent to Washington State legislators urging them to support Interpreter Bill SB6726. The bill would form a workgroup to create a new model for DSHS to contract with interpreters. NOTIS MedSIG hopes to participate in the workgroup, supplying the much-needed voice of the interpreter, as it relates to shaping policy, administration and language access management.
