It is the policy of the Northwest Translators and Interpreters Society (NOTIS) to enable our members to be informed of opportunities and activities that may be of interest to them, without propagating information or lists that could be abused or sold to third parties.
Information Collection And Use
We have structured our Web site so that you can visit it without identifying yourself or revealing any personal information. We gather date, time, and browser type of all visitors to our Web site. This information does not contain anything that can identify users personally. We use this information for trend analysis and to gather broad demographic information about our user base.
NOTIS uses forms to collect information from our members, persons registering for events, and Web site users. We do not exchange or rent email addresses to third parties. In general, we respect form users' privacy and do not share personally identifiable information with other companies or organizations.
When joining, members are required to provide us with contact information (such as name, e-mail address, mailing address and phone numbers). We use this information internally to communicate with members and provide requested services. Members receive periodic announcements from NOTIS about events and opportunities pertinent to our profession. At the Board's discretion, we may provide mailing labels to NOTIS corporate members or other requestors.
When submitting a directory listing, members provide us with contact information and other information about themselves. This information will be published in our Directory only if the member has given their express consent, usually by checking a box on the form used to join or submit information. This consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting NOTIS.
During program registration, users are required to give their contact information (such as name, e-mail address, mailing address and phone numbers). We use this information to communicate with attendees and provide requested services.
We collect certain information (date, time, browser type, and IP address) when information is submitted to us using electronic forms. Where such submissions include requests for service, support or information, we may forward them to our agents, as needed, to best respond to the specific request. In addition, we may retain e-mails and other information sent to us for our internal administrative purposes, and to help us to serve members better. Please note that letters to the editor and similar submissions may be made public.
Service Providers
We use a third party to provide credit card processing on our site. When you pay program registration fees or membership dues online, we pass your name to the third party to provide that service.
Cookies, Web Beacons
We do not use cookies or Web beacons (also called Web bugs or Clear GIFs) on this site.
Third-Party Advertisements
The ads appearing on this Web site are delivered to us by the third party advertising on our site. We share aggregate Web site usage information with them if they request it.
Access to Personally Identifiable Information
If your personally identifiable information changes, you may update it by emailing us at info@notisnet.org or by contacting us by telephone or postal mail at the contact information listed below.
We take reasonable precautions to protect our members' personal information and to store it securely. Access to all of our members' information is restricted. Only agents of the society who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, the treasurer or membership coordinator) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
Protection of Children's Personal Information
Notisnet.org is a general audience site and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Our Web site contains links to other sites. NOTIS is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each Web site to which we may link that may collect personally identifiable information.
Changes to this Statement
We may occasionally update this privacy statement. When we do, we will also revise the "last updated" date on the privacy statement. We encourage you to periodically review this privacy statement to stay informed about how we protect the personal information we collect.
