NOTIS Conference Grants 2026

AN OVERVIEW

NOTIS is accepting conference grant applications from members now through Friday, July 31, at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Please read the information on this page carefully before submitting your application (links below).

These grants will allow various **NOTIS members** to attend EITHER the NOTIS Annual Conference OR a different T&I conference of their choosing with considerable financial support from NOTIS.

  • We will reserve the majority of this year’s grants for selected applicants who wish to attend the NOTIS 2026 Annual Conference on Saturday, September 12, in Lynnwood, Washington. We’ve got an incredible program for you this year. 🤩 Visit notisnet.org/NOTIS-2026 to learn more.
  • The remaining grants, for up to $800* in registration fees and associated expenses, will be awarded to selected applicants who plan to attend other T&I conferences (e.g., ATA, ALTA, NAJIT, CHIA) scheduled between August 2026 and September 2027. *The selection committee will determine the total amount of each grant depending on a variety of factors (e.g., conference cost, location, and availability of funds) and based on the budgets submitted by each grantee.

Again, please read the information on this page carefully before submitting your application(s). You will find both application links at the bottom of this page.

WHY JOIN NOTIS?

Grant Eligibility

To qualify for any conference grant from NOTIS in 2026, you must:

  • be a member of NOTIS in good standing
  • not be a NOTIS Board member
  • complete the application before the deadline, replying thoroughly and thoughtfully to the two short essay questions
  • not have received a NOTIS grant or scholarship in 2024 or 2025
  • agree to return the full grant amount to NOTIS if you are unable, for any reason, to attend the conference

If you are applying for a grant to attend a non-NOTIS conference, you must:

  • meet all of the eligibility requirements listed above
  • know the name, date(s), and registration cost (exact or, if not yet available, estimated, e.g., based on the previous year’s event) of the conference you wish to attend, and provide this information in your application

Please note that you are welcome to apply for both grants in this cycle (for the NOTIS conference and for another), but you will only be eligible to receive one grant. The decision as to which is up to the discretion of the selection committee.

HOW IT WORKS

NOTE: You do not need to register for the conference before submitting your application. Details below.

  1. Candidates will be evaluated anonymously by a committee of their peers using a predetermined set of objective criteria.
  2. NOTIS will announce the results via email by Wednesday, August 12. Please mark this date on your calendar and keep an eye out for our email!
  3. If you are selected to receive a grant from NOTIS but do not respond to our email by Monday, August 17, at 12:00 p.m. PDT, we will offer the grant to a runner-up.
  4. NOTIS 2026 Annual Conference grantees: If you accept the grant, you will be expected to register and pay for the conference on your own before the early-bird deadline of August 21. NOTIS will have a check waiting for you at the conference, which will cover the full cost of registration as well as a stipend for associated expenses (to use at your discretion).

  5. General, non-NOTIS conference grantees: Once we inform you that you’ve been selected, you must submit a budget detailing the cost of admission and other estimated expenses (e.g., hotel stay, flight, rental car, etc.); the committee will then review your budget and present its final offer (up to $800). Once you have registered for the conference and sent proof of payment, we will issue your reimbursement check.

⚠️ IMPORTANT:
If something comes up and you cannot attend the agreed-upon conference, you must return the full grant amount to NOTIS within no more than 30 days.

PURPOSE

Through its evolving scholarship and grant program, NOTIS aims to support members by facilitating access to essential training and networking opportunities. Another round of grants, to cover training and/or certification costs, will be announced soon.

This year’s conference grants are intended to help NOTIS members attend career-changing conferences — including ours — where they can connect with colleagues, learn alongside experts, share insights, earn CEUs, meet employers, and more…

We understand that conference costs can be prohibitive, especially when travel and time off work are involved, and we want to help!

We are especially interested in helping early-career language professionals and those who might otherwise find it difficult to attend a conference due to financial constraints, distance, or other factors. Still, we encourage all interested members to apply!

APPLICATIONS

NOTE: While you are welcome to submit applications for both grants, you may only receive one. The final decision will be up to the discretion of the selection committee.
