Purpose

Through its scholarships program, NOTIS aims to support the translation and interpretation community by increasing access to essential training.

This scholarship is intended to help NOTIS members attend a translation or interpretation conference of their choice, in person or virtually. Some examples of conferences include ATAALTACHIANAJIT, etc.

Award

Maximum $500 to cover conference registration fees and applicable travel and lodging costs.

Eligibility and Requirements

All applicants may receive a maximum of one (1) scholarship for the 2022 calendar year.

Applicants may only apply for one scholarship at a time, to be applied to one course.

Candidates will be evaluated anonymously by a committee using a predetermined set of criteria.

Priority will be given to those who answer the questions thoughtfully, thoroughly, and directly, demonstrating need and engagement in the NOTIS community.

Recipients must be a member of NOTIS in good standing.

How It Works

Note: You do not need to register for the conference in order to apply for the scholarship.

If NOTIS notifies you that you have received the scholarship, you will pay your registration fee up front.

You will then send NOTIS:

1.      a copy of your conference registration and

2.      a budget for travel and lodging costs.

Upon receipt of those documents, NOTIS will send the scholarship amount.

After the conference

Each recipient will fill out a survey on the conference. Your survey responses may be used for posting on NOTIS’s website, social, media, and/or newsletter.

Please note
: In 2022, you may apply for a scholarship even if you have received a NOTIS scholarship in the past. All applicants may receive a maximum of one (1) scholarship for the 2022 calendar year.
