What’s it about?

Our April AI Jam Session will be a conversation with Yuliya Speroff, Medical Interpreter Supervisor at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and a nationally recognized voice in interpreter training and professional development. Yuliya serves on the boards of NCIHC and CHIA and has been recognized as both Interpreter of the Year (CHIA, 2021) and Trainer of the Year (AALB, 2024).

The conversation will be hosted by Elizabeth Adams, NOTIS AI Committee Chair and an ATA-certified Russian to English translator for over 25 years. While enthusiastic about how artificial intelligence opens creative use of computers to more people, Elizabeth believes that human translators and interpreters represent irreplaceable value in the face of technological and political change.

If you have been holding back on learning to use AI because you first want to understand what these new technologies mean for the language industry, that's exactly what this session is designed to address.

Yuliya is a strong voice for interpreter empowerment, and she and Elizabeth will talk honestly about the uncertainty and concern many in our industry are feeling. If you've been watching from the sidelines, this is a good session to attend.
